The Paleo Diet

What do you think about eating like a caveman?  Sounds bad, right?  Surprisingly, many people have flocked to a diet called the Paleo Diet (or the Caveman Diet/Stone Age Diet).  This diet or nutrition plan became a fad in the mid-70s and has recently regained popularity in the U.S.  This meal plan focuses on leaner foods like venison, seafood, grass-fed meats and organic eggs.  As the caveman diet has evolved it has become less centered on meat and now includes fruits, nuts, and vegetables to give more of a balance in nutrition.

The Paleo DietThe best part about the Paleo Diet is that it helps not only with weight loss, but also creating a healthier you.  Unlike fasting, the chicken soup diet, or even the air diet this plan gives you all of the balanced food groups that you need without all of the processed foods.  Many argue that the human digestive system has not evolved to handle processed food which according to some experts explains the high obesity rate in the United States.  Nevertheless, this diet is good for you and your digestive system because it is high in protein and low in carbohydrates which are prime goals for fitness junkies.  Among other benefits are increased happiness, reduced stress, and even a reduced chance of many forms of heart disease.

So you don’t have to rely solely on history books to see what the Stone Age was like.  You can now have your own experience with the Paleo Diet.  Do not feel like you need to be a hunter-gatherer because many standard grocery stores sell venison, seafood, grass-fed meats and other organic foods.  If you are fully invested in the Paleo lifestyle, do not just stop at the diet, there is an entire community who see this as a great way of living. If you have done this diet let us know how it worked for you!
